May 13, 2012 - As far as the physical demands to produce electricity on a power grid, is it cheaper to produce it at 50 Hz or 60 Hz?
I remember hearing a science teacher talking about being in a power plant many years ago and when power demands were great, they would drop the Hz a bit and later increase the Hz so that the electric powered clocks of the time, could catch up. As they were based on the Hz the grid was putting out, less Hz made them run slower; a higher Hz made them catch up time.
